Description

Bug description

One day it just happened that the messages I typed into a Gajim chat window didn't reach fb anymore. My friends' messages reach me, though. I use Ubuntu 10.4 and I use it rather superficially. If you ask me to do something to a terminal, please give me the exact commands... thank you

Steps to reproduce

It just happened one day.

Software versions

OS version: Ubuntu 10.4 => Gajim 0.13 GTK version: 2.20.1 PyGTK version: 2.17.0

Change History (10)

btw I tried re-installation of gajim and removal, checked the settings... I just don't see where I could add a port myself but I can't find anything on the internet about facebook changing ports, so I guesss this is not where I have to look.

you use a transport to send messages to a facebook user? You connect directly to fb jabber server?

If it happens again, please open a XML console (actions -> advanced), and copy here what hapens when you send a message that doesn't reach your contact.

We cannot do more without more information, and maybe a way to reproduce the problem.

The other person's messages are sent to gajim, like e.g. the "alles klar bis dann" (= ok see you then). My answer, the "ja bis dann" (=yes see you then") does not reach facebook.

I noticed that this is probably not a transport in the actual sense but I can integrate a fb jabber account into gajim, which used to work...

The XML console says:

<!-- In --> <message from="-1038883742@…" to="xxxxxxxxxxxxx@…/Gajim_9179d66b_4B3FDC2E15EB2" type="chat"> <composing xmlns="http://jabber.org/protocol/chatstates"/> </message>

Sorry about the delay.

From this log, it's clear that message are correctly sent from Gajim. So I see no problem on Gajim's side.

Is it normal that jid starts with a '-'?

comment:6 Changed 5 years ago by zimio

Yes, It is normal. That's how facebook names its contacts, there's no problem with that.

I can connect directly to facebook and I have no problems sending and receiving messages. Some times facebook's servers are congested a messages are lost, but most of the times it works perfectly.

comment:8 Changed 5 years ago by helltigerlily

...then what do I do now? I don't just have this problem sometimes, so it's not facebook's congested servers, but a few weeks ago it started and has been like that ever since :-(

Have you tried with a newer version of gajim?
