Reported by: Darlan Owned by:
Priority: normal Milestone: Plugins Welcome
Component: plugins Version:
Severity: normal Keywords: Identi.ca Bot Bots Twitter Contact Ignore
Cc: Blocked By:
Blocking: OS: All

Description

Phenomenon

Some users who have bots as contacts don't want to see when the bot is signing in or signing out or writing private messages constantly (e.g. Identi.ca and Twitter):
For example:
A support bot of einfach Jabber support(AT)einfachjabber.de
A support bot of JabMe sysbot(AT)jabme.de
A search engine bot of DuckDuckGo im(AT)ddg.gg

Background analysis

Write a plugin that adds an option to ignore events from a selected contact.

Implementation recommendation

Manage Contact > Ignore Options > (A dialog opens)
A) Ignore notifications
B) Alert me when contact mentions my nickname (similarly to the entry muc_highlight_words in the ACE)
See ticket #6895

'Triggers' plug-in allows you to do this?

I don't think it's a good thing: Trigger plugin is about how to notify user when we get something.

Of course it's quite easy to add a checkbox "Ignore event". The question is should we do that in the same plugin or in a new one?

Another feature (request) of this plugin is to define certain keywords which will re-enable alert the user.

e.g. The nickname of the @user at Identi.ca or Twitter (see: #6949 >> can also be set manually) and special events/tags such as #jan25 and so on...
