The ability to drag tabs into new windows

I'd like the ability to drag a tab to my desktop and have a new window created. Likewise, I should be able to drag a tab from one window to another.

  • Status changed from new to assigned

why? who does that? Fox, gnome-terminal doesn't do it. Fox doesn't even have detach.

I'm worried about all those as I do not like user making actions without wanting (very common when DND is allover)

This allows maximum control of how windows are laid out. Gaim has this feature and I LOVE it, because there are times when I want to send one chat to another desktop and leave my main window where it is.

I like detach, I'm worried about DND though. how about right click on the tab --> detach?

I guess the only problem with detach, is that you should then have a reattach. The most logical way express reattach is DnD, IMO

This was the next task on tab DnD after the arrow, so lets say I'm taking it.

it's not just arrow though you can even avoid it. two things I have to notice:

when I drag a tab I see + I should not see + (it means copy) wihtout + it's move so I should get without it

I cannot move a tab to be the first tab (from the left). I can't remember now which app was it, but had a nice idea to do such stuff. it was adding space (eg 1st tab would move a bit to the right to allow my tab to be dropped as first)

My english is quite bad...

The arrow stuff: I mean that I'll take this ticket after I've done the drop arrow on tab DnD.

About moving a tab to be the first: it works for me :/ atm, a dragged tab takes the position of the tab under on drop.

A drop arrow will be cool! Dragging and dropping on the first tab also works for me.

Travis, window = gtk.Window() tab.reparent(window)

do you still LOVE it though?

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from assigned to closed

Nikos, to tell you the truth, I've not yet had the desire to do this like I used to with gaim. Maybe my usage patterns have changed. I'll close, and let someone else who is interested reopen if that person exists.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
