Gajim hangs all the time during the conversation

When I type messages in Gajim conv. window, it sometimes hangs. I write 20 letters, then nothing shows during the next 1/3 of a second (although I'm still writing); afterwards next few letters appear at once. The same happens during deletion of written text - few letters disappear, then I have to wait and then I see next few letters disappeared, and so on.

This makes conversations less comfortable than they should be.

Is your computer very loaded, is it better if you turn off the spell checker ?
