some IRC channels coming through IRC gateway are not connected and /QUERY don't work at all

Description

When connecting to the IRC channel on irc.freenode.net through ejabberd's mod_irc, gajim never displays the channel. Also, no matter which IRC server, I never get a private message through it, and I cannot send one either.

Output of gajim --verbose will be made available to the request (don't want to make my complete roster public to any spim address harverster which goes around).

[from #3663] can you give the output of the xml console, so we can see what's going on ?

He send me the output in private, I'll look at it

Still reproducable with SVN r9324. Actually it is kind of showstopper for me, because I need IRC for my work. gajim 0.11.4 works without any problems. Again log file will be sent privately to Asterix.

your log file has too many things, I don't understand what you did, what was wrong. I just tried to join an IRN room with irc.gajim.org with success, so could you explain the way to reproduce your bug?

Sorry, yes some explanation is in order. What I did was just to login into my Jabber accounts, which have some bookmarks with auto-join bits set on. What is the most relevant for this bug IMHO is joining #fedora-qa channel on Freenode via irc.netlab.cz (ie., Jabber room would be fedora-qa%irc.freenode.net@irc.netlab.cz). Whenever I login into freenode (with any IRC client or now with 0.11.4) I get pinged by nickserv!irc.freenode.net asking for identify password. That's the test I use. If I don't get /QUERY (or /MSG, which is the same, right?) through my IRC/Jabber client then I cannot use it.

The point of course, is that I never get that /MSG from nickserv.

could you please send me logs, but only of the problem: I mean connect to your account, and start logging thing in XML console only when you connect to your IRC room. This way it will be more clear. If you could do the same with 0.11.4 to compare streams, that could help too.

I was not able to use irc.netlab.cz, but with irc.gajim.org I was able to connect to this room.

  • status changed from new to closed.
  • resolution set to fixed.

I know this, it's an ejabberd bug, mod_irc doesn't work correctly. Please report it there.

Maybe to mention as a work around: Join a non-existant channel, it will fail, but that's good. After you're connected, join the channel you want to chat in. It works then. You can leave the non-existent channel now.
