Lock watermark to indicate gpg encryption, useful in minimalistic chatwindows

Im usually using a very minimalistic gajim chatwindow, and dont really know if the encryption is enabled or not. Yes there are these green status messages, but i have them turned off because the msgs are flooding my window.

It would be really useful to have an option to place a Lock or something in the chatwindow as a watermark in the background if gpg is enabled. The icon should can be used on dark and bright backgrounds without pain.

I don't know how to add a char (or an icon) there that is not editable, not movable and before which we can't move the cursor :/

having a lock in the text field is not satisfying for multiple lines (just my opinion), what about putting it in the infobox above the messages, or in the tab ?

Placing an icon in an input field is possible with the SexyIconEntry? and we already make use of libsexy in the chat banners.

What is the problem with multiple lines?

If the icon is not clickable, i like the "right" option better... there should be 2 different icons: one for e2e and one for gpg.
