Chat window text entry field doesn't like text being entered (or Ctrl+W)

Description

Sometimes (more often than not) entering text into the text field of a chat window causes Gajim to freeze (nothing gets drawn, just the background colours remain after other windows are dragged over Gajim's). When this doesn't cause a freeze, pressing Ctrl+W (only when the text field has focus) will always freeze it.

This occurs in both Etch's 0.10.1 and the latest from SVN, but only in Debian Etch (newly released stable), and no other operating system to my knowledge (a friend has a pre-release Etch installation and Gajim works for him). Thus it may well be a problem unique to the new stable Etch (which I have found to be generally flakey and prone to applications and X itself freezing).

as it depends on the versino of the OS I don't think it's a Gajim bug, but something with your system Can you still reproduce ?

I stopped using Etch shortly after I filed the bug (and subsequently wrote over the partition with another distribution), so no. I expect it's Debian's fault, but I thought you ought to know that Gajim isn't working in Etch. Perhaps they've realised the problem and fixed it, but I can't be sure.
