xmlparse.dll xmltok.dll lookup failure under win32 0.11/gtk+ bundle distro

Reported by: om@… Owned by: asterix
Priority: normal Milestone: 0.11.2
Component: None Version: 0.11.1
Severity: trivial Keywords:
Cc: OS: Windows

Description

When in search path in Windows could be found dlls with name 'xmlparse.dll' or 'xmltok.dll' it is loaded first prior to Gajim's internal libraries. Moving them from GAJIMPATH/src/gtk/bin to GAJIMPATH/src (where gajim.exe located) solves the problem.

as they belong to GTK, I don't think it's a good thing to move them from src/gtk/bin ...

  • os set to All

But this seems to be the only way to prevent this problem. It isn't gajim specific but a problem of almost every gtk app on windows.

so it's a bug in another unknown software. We could workarround it, but is it a good think to workarround it ... Do you (reporter) have an idead of which software could have installed those files ?

Hi, I think many persons have this problem with windows+gajim. the only gtk+ spefific packages I have installed now, are gimp and gaim. (openoffice)

but it might help you, that the xmlparse.dll und xmltok.dll in C:\windows\system32 are from 28.09.2002, and so very old. I personally will remove them. (should be automatic removed by gtk+ packages? Does non-gtk+ programms use these files? Was it planted there by an microsoft-update?)

P.s. i use winxp and the installation was in the year 2005 or after

I had the same problem with gajim-0.11.1+gtk-1 but i could solve it when i removed the bundle and installed gajim-0.11.1-1 "standalone" and gtk-2.10.11-win32-1 from the glade website.
