Yes, I second that, it's like a standard now: adiumx, kopete and landell...

what do you mean exactly, what is custumizable? and how?

Changed 17 months ago by edubxb@…

Make that the textarea or the widget that show the conversation text and images renders all using the mozilla gecko engine, this permits to change the style of the chat window through html and css.

WebKit? is much faster and lighter than Gecko engine.

Gecko 1.9 is mature.

Yes, Gecko is mature, but WebKit? too, although not in Windows and GNU/Linux, because has been ported recently.

WebKit? is much faster and lighter than Gecko engine.

I'm using Firefox Nightly and it is very fast. When compared Epiphany-Gecko and Epiphany-WebKit? (both SVN/Nightly-based) and the Gecko one was faster.

The WebKit? one is freezing, hanging and crashing. I do not find such engine as good for choosing everywhere on desktop.

And remember, that GNOME cooperates with Mozilla since years.

Yes, Gecko is mature, but WebKit?? too, although not in Windows and GNU/Linux, because has been ported recently.

So it is not mature if was ported recently :P .

Yes, Nightly version is fast, I'm tried Firefox 3 beta 4 and is impresive, but the previous stable version is slow and memory eater.

The WebKit? team is at work to provide and stable release. Another browser that uses the WebKit? engine is Midori and is pretty stable and fast.

For quite some time the GNOME/GTK+ team works together with the Webkit team.
