Avatar handling in the muc user list should be consistant with the roster

Description

In the roster contact avatars are displayed on the right and the status icon is displayed on the left but in the muc user list the avatar is displayed on the left before the status icon. This seems inconsistant.

The avatar and status icon side by side take much more room than they need. The avatar should be moved to the right to be consistant with the roster. This way, if many room users do not have an avatar then space is not wasted on that.

declaration

pb with this patch: see the attached image. Avatar get hidden. I don't

know why that works in roster but not in muc. The only reason is the hpaned. but for sur there is a bug in GTK somewhere: in roster status goes under avatar ... is it the normal behaviour ? I haven't foud the answer anywhere ...

Hi, I thing, a switchable function (left/right side avatars in MUC) in ACE is a best solution. Because, i read from left to right side. (For many people is better left-side-avatars). thank's

and you'd like first column status icon, second column avatar and then name ?

I don't think it's really usable ...

no, i think first avatar, second status icon and then name. But its possible make this sequence switchable in ACE. (for example: muc_roster_avatar=0, muc_roster_status=1, muc_roster_name=2) the value means priority. Its good function for tunning :-) what say you to it?

Changed 15 months ago by asterix

I say that it's 3 more ACE options for ordering columns ... and 6 if we do the same in roster ...

Changed 15 months ago by tonda-main@…

ok, and its possible another solution, or its problem this 3/6 ACE options writing? (in future) :-)

Changed 15 months ago by asterix

I don't think such an option isreally usefull ... That's my opinion ...

I think you should stick to the summary description: just make it the same in MUC as in the roster. If you feel some people will want avatars on the left, then change your show_avatar_in_X on/off option to X_avatar_position: left|right|disabled

Personally, I want to turn off not just the avatars, but even the status icons for my MUC user list ;)
