I see * bb but I've read all his messages (the primary thing of an chat tab). my first second reaction is 'it is bug', I notice tryaicon also holding event (this bug is allover), I click on it to see what happens, I see dialog about invitation and all * is removed. ah so it's not a bug I say but Gajim should do better

Gajim should upt a yellow bar above chat to show such related to message events (if chat tab is open of course). other similar events are those from FT

Sounds good if we can have have only one pending event, but the number of

events is unlimited.

Sorry I just filed a new ticket which is kinda duplicate to this one... it

also refers to these kind of problems.

My opinion is that the notification thing should ONLY mean that a PM was received (or a highlight, of course). Furthermore, I suggest that ALL events should be told to the user in the PM window, thus STILL causing the systray to say "notif" on weird things like invites and FTs. this is waaaaaay more intuitive, especially to people from other networks who are familiar only with PM (MSN does everything in the pm window) and it's useful to see these events in the log when you look back.

I agree, i have already see the problem, and i searched a long time before understanding. Being a little bit more verbose wouldn't be bad.
