Description

Will there be a Gajim integration with nautilus-sendto (as can be seen in GAIM), so that files from Nautilus could be sent to people from one's roster, using only a context menu (no drag'n'drop things)?

this feature smell damn good :D

The last version of nautilus-sendto is from 2004 and it depends on evolution. Do I need a clumsy mail client just to send a file from the file manager to Gajim? - no

I think a better way to achieve the same is to write a nautilus script. Some bash programing and gajim-remote is more than enough.

Well, I think "5 days ago" (as for today) isn't 2004. Have you checked the GNOME CVS repo? http://cvs.gnome.org/viewcvs/nautilus-sendto/ Besides, AFAIK, Evolution isn't any more a requirement, only a "recomendation". And I think that using _sendto_ to _send_ files is better than dealing with nautilus-actions. nautilus-sendto is designed to deal with file sending (currently through Evolution, GAIM and Blutooth, IIRC). Therefore it should be integrated somehow with GAJIM. Cheers and checkout the CVS!

Thanks for the info. I wouldn't say this way of checking dependencies can be called "recomendation", but anyway - you are right for the date. Current cvs is linked against gnome2.13, so we can expect new versions not before gnome2.14 is released.

Yann, can you make a new repository for nautilus-sendto-gajim plugin.

There is a beta plugin, you can take it from here:

svn co svn://svn.gajim.org/nautilus-sendto-gajim

Yeah!

That's good! You should work a little bit on the GUI and integrate presence indicators, but that's exactly, what I've asked for. Maybe try to cooperate with nautilus-sendto maintainer to merge nautilus-sendto-gajim into nautilus-sendto (it will decrease the amount of packages to install :P)?

It is more that 2 weeks since I wrote to nautilus-sendto author about what you suggested. No reply. You can still download the single plugin package form the above repository.

Not good. I really would like to see this feature in mainstream Gajim

/Nautilus-sendto.

Changed 3 years ago by dkirov

it is kind of mainstream. You can report bugs and stuff. I'll put a wiki

NautilusSendtoIntegration. If needed we can move nautilus-sendto-gajim in gajim source repository, although I don't see the difference. The main problem with such small plugins is that they miss packages for distributions :(

Changed 3 years ago by DoomHammer

And this was what I meant by "mainstream" - a packaged plugin for distros

to distribute. The better OS/Desktop integration - the better users' experience!

gajim plugin is in nautilus-sendto cvs tree.
